It's been a busy week-- first, Eliot learned how to walk... then he learned how to drive! Boy do kids grow up fast these days!

Eliot's first haircut!
Ciocia Jadzia gave Eli his first haircut during our last trip to Chicago. She was very gentle, and he kept very still. His new do looks great! Thanks Ciocia!

Eliot in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a very cool city - we were there during gay pride weekend, and watched the parade as it went through the city along one of the canals. Eliot had the best seat in the house!


Speaking of house... yes, this house is really only as wide as the door - supposedly the narrowest house in the world! Something about taxes being proportional to the width of your house... Now that's clever tax evasion!

Here is our front entryway. There are two families in this structure that was once the main family home and stable. I think that we're in what was the stable. Our place is to the left of the metal gutter drain shown in this photo.

Here is from the back of the unit. It has a very nice patio and sun room.

This is the 2nd floor landing. The owner did a nice job of combining the old brick structure with a modern renovated interior.

This is our new address in Germany. We have succesfully signed a lease. I have had some trouble posting photos from Germany, but here is a link to some at the realtors website:

This place is a newly renovated 200 year old barn in a small village North of Kaiserslautern. The main building has been converted into two separate housing units. The photos on the website are a little confusing because they are from both units. I'll post more photos of our specific unit later.

Eliot meets Merichel

Onika and Jeff's daughter Merichel was born on the 4th of July! Eliot just wanted to play with her and didn't understand why she wasn't crawling around with him. Onika was a goddess and watched Eliot (while caring for her newborn baby) last Friday, when we got into a pinch for childcare. They all fared wonderfully, but I think Onika has decided it will be some time before Merichel gets a sibling!

Eliot got a balloon when we went grocery shopping at Trader Joes. He held onto the string really tight while we were outside so the balloon got to come home with us. I bet you all know how the story ends though! :)

Without exception, Eliot's favorite toy is always the one that Kaya is playing with. Here, Eliot has found the motherload, Kaya's toy chest.

Eliot loves walking behind his wagon. We did lap after lap through the kitchen, entry room, and office today. I think the last count was 30. Neither of us should have any trouble sleeping tonight.
